Erik, Jimmy, and Prof. Fullerton at APS March Meeting

Erik, Jimmy, and Prof. Fullerton are at the 2011 APS March Meeting, the largest physics meeting of each year.

Erik is giving a contributed talk on Thursday, March 24 titled Ferromagnetic resonance studies of CoFeB-MgO [abstract]

Jimmy is giving a contributed talk on Monday, March 21 titled Magnetic Properties of Single Crystal Nickel Nanowires [abstract]

Welcome, Sohini!

Sohini Manna joined our lab as a 1st year PhD student in Nanoengineering.  She received her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from BITS, Pilani in 2010.

After her undergraduate education, she worked at the Laboratory for Quantum Magnetism at EPFL Lausanne where she performed SQUID magnetometry measurements.  Sohini will focus on development of synthesis techniques and applications for transition metal nanowires.

Welcome the the group!

Jimmy Kan at SpinAps Conference

Jimmy attended and presented at SpinAge 2010 (Watsonville, CA), a SpinAps conference detailing the latest developments in emerging materials for spintronics, with special focus on topological insulators.  His presented poster was on Magnetics in Single Crystal Nickel Nanowires.

Keith Chan at Gordon Conference on Magnetic Nanostructures

Keith attended the Gordon Research Conference on Magnetic Nanostructures (Bates College, Lewiston, ME) and presented a poster on Nickel Nanowire synthesis mechanisms.

Welcome, Nasim!

Nasim Eibagi is joining our lab as a 2nd year Physics PhD student.  Nasim received her B.S. in Physics from University of California, Davis in 2009.  Her undergraduate research was involved with understanding interactions in magnetic nanodot systems.  Nasim has also held an internship at IBM-Almaden Research Center in the Parkin group where she worked on designing a MOKE Probe and performed longitudinal MOKE experiments on magnetic thin films.

Welcome to the group, Nasim!
